After months of speculation, The Obama’s finally have their new dog, a Portuguese Water Dog named Bo. Malia and Sasha apparently chose the name because their cousins have a cat named Bo and because Mrs. Obama’s father was nicknamed Diddley, as in Bo Diddley. Bo was a gift from Senator Ted Kennedy, who owns three dogs of the same breed which are a good fit for kids like Malia who have allergies.
Though Bo wasn’t technically adopted from a shelter, we now know that the White House is his fourth home. Hopefully this one will stick!
